Hang regular door from barn door assembly.
When converting your hinged door to a barn door you may or may not need to adjust the length of the door to ensure that it slides smoothly on the railing and ground track without scraping across the floor.
Using a stud finder and a level hang the mounting board on the wall studs.
To do this measure the door lengthwise and score a line across the bottom.
Locate and mark studs in your wall then mark the wall to mount the track making sure that it s level and leaving an inch of clearance between the floor and the bottom of the door.
The barn door should be wide enough to completely cover the doorway with an inch or two of overhang on both sides and about one inch at the top.
The door must be no thicker than 1 3 4 step 1.
I knew that actually planking the doors wasn t an option because the track for hollow core doors is not meant for that kind of weight they d be off the track and broken in no time.
It should be tall enough so that when it s hung on the track there is about 1 2 inch of space between the bottom of the door and the floor.
Now that the trim was up and the doors were painted i needed to give the flat surface of the doors the look of planked wood.
Installing barn door hardware process.

Trim along this score line using a circular saw for a precise.
