Open the door and stand with your back to the hinges.
Hang door without hinges.
If the doorknob is on the left you need a left handed door.
Leave the wall side knuckles attached to the door jamb.
Some blank doors have a specific swing direction.
Remove the hinge leaves from the jamb.
One hinge is located 7 inches from the top of the door frame and the other hinge is located 11 inches from the bottom of the door frame.
If the knob is to the right select a right handed door.
If you are hanging a slab door to replace an existing door and you still have the original door you can measure your new door slab to fit the frame by aligning it with the old door.
Most doors require a minimum of two hinges.
Using both hands lift the door off the hinge knuckles.
Screw the hinge side jamb to the stud remove the door from the frame and set it aside.
New doors also known as door blanks have smooth sides without any existing hinge locations.

Hang your new door and test fit everything.
If your door sticks make a mark on the edges where it s not closing flush.
Align the old and new door slabs if you have the original door.
